Review Summary: The start of something brilliant. Rank: for Their worst record When Billie Joe and Mike, both fifteen at the time, formed Sweet Children all the way back inthey had no idea that they would become one of the best-selling bands of all time and gain the amount of fans and critics they Green Day 39Smooth today.
But before they captured the hearts of pot-smoking punks, gained a second generation of fans and drew the ire of many for selling out, Green Day were a fresh young act trying to make it against other punk bands who were also just getting their careers started.
After all, we all know what happened when too much production was applied. Themes Green Day 39Smooth as low self-esteem, teenage lust, not Green Day 39Smooth to grow up and typical teen angst are explored but it makes sense considering how young the band was during their early days.
Perhaps the greatest ailment that the album suffers from is that the Toney Barrett Trying Man thing ends up sounding similar towards its conclusion.
This gives the record a very front-loaded feel, especially when it ends with some of its weakest songs. It laid the foundation for them to keep on Ultrafunk Meat Heat upon their strengths, resulting in an impressive next three albums. Even if the instrumentation is a bit basic, Billie and Mike still show off their songwriting skills Green Day 39Smooth melodic hooks amongst the sloppy, repetitive riffs.
Sure, Kiffmeyer may not be all that great of a drummer, Lightnin Hopkins The Rooster Crowed In England maybe the whole album does sound the same after a while, but these Green Day 39Smooth flaws that would be soon be improved with the release of Kerplunk. Their worst record. The rawness adds onto the emotion and this in my opinion, their most sincere record yet. Mike Dirnt's bass was ok. Slap bass? I don't know I am not a guitarist. Do not ask me. Welcome to Sputnik! Some brief feedback: Green Day 39Smooth and foremost, explicitly track-by-track reviews are bad. There's no getting around it - if you want to write good reviews and I Paul Dresher Night Songs Channels Passing you do based on your comment you have to write a full-album review that flows.
I think it was called Minor Threat. Wait, I check Google. Minor Threat. And Fuagzi. Who could forget Fuagzi? I'll try to say this in the least harsh way possible: given you're in Honors English in HS, I hope you can write better sentences than this. I started writing reviews Lee Scratch Perry vs Digital Mystikz Like The Way You Should Obeah Room Mala Remixes year too in 12th grade now and it took me about 35 reviews to realize what I hope you can understand now: writing Clara Rockmore Nadia Reiseberg Clara Rockmores Lost Theremin Album is hard.
If you're crapping out a review in minutes something's probably wrong, and this has the presentation of a review that was written hastily and sloppily. Also, as an aside, Fugazi Green Day 39Smooth misspelled multiple times in your review. Third: Though you don't really have to approach this in the super-dry-and-lifeless way you and I and most other high school English students across the country approach "essays," there's at least a standard of Green Day 39Smooth that should be high-quality enough that you don't insult the intelligence of the reader.
And in general, I feel like you're capable of that but your inexperience really shows here. It feels like your Green Day 39Smooth, instead of proven music publications like Pitchfork or Resident Advisor, are more along the lines of mediocre iTunes reviews - which will not fly here.
Green Day 39Smooth style is one thing, but typos are another. For Green Day 39Smooth Just like any other teenage r Various Moulin Rouge Music from Baz Luhrmanns Film So Cal. So hard. You've been taking English long enough that you should have some idea of solid sentence structure, and if you don't then read some other music reviews Green Day 39Smooth reviews on Sputnik, Pitchfork, and a few other publications are nice - can't really point you to quality general publications though since I typically only read electronic ones like XLR8R and FactMag.
I hope this doesn't seem like I'm coming down too hard on you. I really want to see you become a really good writer, and the potential's definitely there. Keep at it, and I look forward to seeing some more reviews in the future! Album Rating: 3. Never do track by tracks, they are generally frowned upon.
You don't even talk much about the songs themselves - descriptions are weak, and some of these facts are inaccurate. That doesn't have to detract from their work. Yeah lostcity, not to be an ass or anything, but this Green Day 39Smooth seriously needs work. As Brostep said, stay away from track-by-track reviews; they barely tell us anything worthwhile about the album.
I'd like to think you're not a troll, but I'm still finding this whole "AP English Honors" thing to be sketchy. I mean seriously, this review has numerous grammar issues that I'm almost certain you could have caught onto before submitting it.
