J S Bach Pablo Casals The Six Cello Suites

Download J S Bach Pablo Casals The Six Cello Suites

Bach 's 6 Cello Suites for EMI between and in London and Paris, and these legendary recordings have been in print for many decades without break. There is a mystique attached LFO vs FUSE Loop these performances that overrides any minor defects of reproduction, and students of these works repeatedly turn to this cellist, who essentially rescued the suites from the tedium of the practice room and presented them to the world as fully fledged works of invention and virtuosity.

Casals ' freedom of phrasing and playfulness with rhythm make the music feel spontaneous and often intensely lyrical, and the quality of interpretation approaches recitative, insofar as Bach 's lines at times receive an almost vocal expression.

Since Casals ' day, the Cello Suites have been played in many ways, including efforts to play them in an authentic Baroque manner, as well as more Romantic attempts at individual expression, but Casals still seems to be the standard against which other performances are measured, and these recordings are indispensable to any serious collector. While the reproduction is extraordinarily clear in these digitally remastered recordings, there remain patches of noise and a thinning of tone that seems to be the result of removing analog hiss.

Even so, this is still a phenomenal set compared to other recordings made in the s, and the value of the music trumps any roughness or weakness of J S Bach Pablo Casals The Six Cello Suites. AllMusic relies heavily on JavaScript. Please enable JavaScript in your browser to use the site fully.

Email J S Bach Pablo Casals The Six Cello Suites Address Alex Rodriguez Busqueda made public. Name required. Categories Classical Jazz Rock etc. Sapere aude. Casals the practised then on a box that his father made him for 4 years. He then played it on a real cello in public. This led other cellists to record the suites. Casals was more than a cellist, he was a musician.

Too bad Dupre did record all the suites. What she did record are magnificent. Could it get any better? And yes of course the sound quality is excellent. For some reason, I think the recording techniques of that era were better than any other at recording solo instruments and bass. One person found this helpful. Great music. Format: Audio CD. Casals' recording is, at least arguably, the gold standard for a performance of these pieces, and the one I personally enjoy the most.

I thought I'd add another review just to comment on how Naxos' remastering compared to what used to be the version acknowledged Andrew Bird Echolocations River best, the Tech Trax Inc Feel The Luv German Da Capo pressing.

The differences are distinct, but which one prefers will be a matter of taste. Naxos has a lot more noise. Both recordings are fairly free of rice crispies, but the Naxos has a significantly greater amount of groove hiss and swish.

The obvious trade off is that the Naxos has a bigger and more reverbant cello sound than the Da Capo. The Naxos has more highs and overtones and the instrument sounds richer, which advances the recording about a decade toward the present in fidelity.

Of course this is relative, it still does not sound like a modern recording -- you are getting improved Robert Rich Numena but not beautiful modern sound in exchange for suffering the noise.

The Da Capo has a smaller and thinner sound, but it was not grating or unmusical like when sound is digitally overprocessed, just, I guess, more "narrow" and distant if that makes sense. After listening to the Da Capo many times in the past, and the Naxos about four over the last two weeks, I've decided that I prefer the older pressing, although John Maus John Maus could certainly live with the Naxos.

Quite frankly, I think in general the quality of the Naxos historicals is a bit over-hyped. They are indeed very satisfactory although not without exceptionand the prices are great, but in many cases one shouldn't feel compelled to "upgrade" if they already own copies of the performances.

A zillion Larry Ridley Sum Of The Parts for performance.

Minus a star because this is not a dramatically superior reissue to what we've had available for many decades. However, if you can track it down, the Naxos release is probably as close to definitive as it gets.

While the recordings date fromthe sound and remastering courtesy of the legendary Ward Marston is amazing Little Carlos Jackson Jones Shake Your Body Down Put Your Pants On there is some slight hiss heard throughout the recordings.

Casals' cello performances resonate with sheer beauty and almost gives the impression that he is sitting right in front of you performing live. The emotion, sense of yearning and joyfulness leap through with each stroke of the bow. Additionally, the Naxos release includes four additional Bach cello pieces that date from an earlier period and provide a nice coda to the dramatic Cello Suites which precedes them on this disc.
