Various Ultimate Brazilian Breaks Beats
As an archival reference it's priceless, but as a musical collection it's simultaneously inviting and overwhelming. Other songs seem useful only as breaks; once the vocals come in on Jefferson Starship's Various Ultimate Brazilian Breaks Beats showcase "Rock Music" or Delegation's syrupy lounge-soul "Oh Honey" it's a good time to tune out. It might also irritate the casual, non-DJ listener that Flores remixed a few tracks a bit too liberally-- it's fun to hear the cowbell for another few seconds at the beginning of the Rolling Stones' "Honky Tonk Women", but slowing the break in the Winstons' "Amen, My Brother" to a drastically reduced BPM than the rest of the track is more utilitarian than entertaining.
Besides, it sounds better fast anyways, as approximately 5, jungle songs have proven. This is a remarkably egalitarian collection, where a James Brown track everyone knows rubs elbows with long-forgotten obscurities from Magic Touch and John Davis. Complete track listing, taken from Geocities. An asterisk after a track name indicates that the song was remixed for inclusion in this compilation.
There are some oddities in Minnie Riperton Come To My Garden collection, with releases SBR and SBR discontinued and now considered "unofficial", while SBR was released with two different track listings. The later, alternate Various Ultimate Brazilian Breaks Beats listing for SBR is as below.
Also, two later volumes were released, both as SBR The first version was re-released as Strictly Breaks 1and the second version was actually mixed and re-edited by Louis Flores. Subtitled as "A Pre-School Break Mix", DJ QBert mixed duplicate copies of UBB tracks with scratching and incorporated dialogue and samples from television, film and popular culture, notably comic books, cartoons and video games.

SoulsticeMar 2, Various Ultimate Brazilian Breaks Beats 7, I'm not sure how the copyright for these would work, I don't think they've been in production for a long time. I guess copyright technically still belongs to the original owners of the songs before they were compiled. Need to do a little research Various Ultimate Brazilian Breaks Beats I get the chance.
If there are flacs of these out there I might try hunting those down, I don't own them on cd or vinyl, and didn't realise they were mp3 til after uploading them. You are right, mp3 is just not worth bothering with for serious sampling. If they are in the background then maybe, but really it's crucial that breaks are top quality.
Not sure what the original source was. Don't know if they got released onto cd, late 80s so it's very likely, but I've only ever seen them on vinyl. It'll be a while til I get round to that though, a little busy until the summer now. I'll keep uploading stuff as it gets finished. There's a lot to get through. And if these the moderators think the copyright is too hot then they can always remove it.
