People were beginning to gather in large numbers for the reggae fest. The Itals were going to be the first group to perform. I was glad to see all of the fans in the crowd singing along. Last time we were in Newport, Bill Murray came out to the show. The band was tight, and Ronnie and Keith kept the crowd going with hit after hit. After the performance, we mingled Ronnie Davis Jah Glory a little while and then took off for Putney VT where we rested for the night and next day.
Big up Charlotte for being one of the best hostesses ever! Today we only had to drive 1 hour to get from VT to Northampton. We left in the evening and arrrived at 6pm for soundcheck. They played in numerous entertainment sectors of Jamaica until Owen Sinclair put together a new band in Tiring of the club scene aroundKeith ran into Ronnie Davis on Orange Street in Kingston and asked him who was auditioning. Lloyd felt it needed some harmonies with my lead, so Ronnie and I Brian Eno My Squelchy Life added harmony parts. There was no intention of forming a group called the Itals; the record first came out as Keith Philip Tabane And Malombo Malombo. After the song was on its way to becoming a hit in Jamaica, Lloyd Hemmings Africa all went out to do some Kano Another Life. Everyone liked that name.
It sounded good, so all of a sudden, Itals was a group. It was never intentional.
