This double set is very important in the Brazilian Jazz world, because it offers one of the best representatives of its genre in Cascades, also, this album is very hard to find now and one of the most sought-after ones by Azymuth loyal Azymuth Cascades.
Another amazing feat reached here by Azymtuh is that after 25 years; these super hits sound soooo modern and up-to-date because they didn't use musical formulas that easily fade away. Not to be missed by Jazz and Brazilian Jazz fans out there. Brazilian jazz at its best. Had this on vinyl and had to get these titles on disc. Fantastic musicians at play here folks. Wonderful, interesting music.

Some of its albums are excellent Crazy Rhythm, Flameand some are uneven Curumim, Telecommunication. Azymuth fans agree that 's Cascades and 's Rapid Transit are among its stronger efforts, and inFantasy did a very good deed when it reissued those Azymuth Cascades dates back to Azymuth Cascades on this minute CD. On both Cascades and Rapid Transit, Azymuth is creatively successful because it doesn't resort to a lot of gimmicks. The Brazilian combo simply lets the creativity flow, providing adventurous yet accessible fusion that Morgen Morgen jazz with Brazilian rhythms, as well as rock and funk.
Azymuth's more uneven and erratic albums are strictly for its most hardcore fans, but this rewarding CD is enthusiastically recommended to anyone who has even a casual interest in the group. While Telecommunication had its ups and downs, this Azymuth Cascades is much more consistent -- there are no weak or disappointing tracks that you want to skip.
The album gets off to an impressive start with "Club Morocco," a vibrant instrumental that effectively combines the Brazilian samba rhythm with jazz, funk, and rock. And the Azymuth Cascades that follow some entirely instrumental, some with vocals are equally appealing, including the gentle "Cascade of the Seven Waterfalls," the mysterious "Remembering Milton," and the clever "Indian Pepper," Unlike some fusion -- or, for that matter, hard bop and post-bop -- Cascades never sounds like "chops music.
But they would rather use their technical skills to tell you some type of story; they're communicators, not exhibitionists. And that approach serves Azymuth Cascades well on Cascadeswhich was definitely an improvement over Telecommunication.
